Cosina has announced two new wide-angle lens for Leica M-mount rangefinders.
The Voigtlander Ultron Vintage Line 35mm F2 Aspherical Type II VM lens is an update of the Voigtlander Ultron 35mm F2 Aspherical Lens which is based on a classic Voigtlander design from the mid-20th Century.
The new lens consists of eight elements in five groups, and has an aperture range form f2 to f16. The 10-bladed lens has a minimum focusing distance of 58cm (23in) (or 70cm/28in used with rangefinder coupling). The all-metal lens takes a 39mm filter and is expected to retail for around $855/£620/€7100.
Cosina is also releasing another 35mm lens in M mount, the Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 35mm F2 Aspherical VM lens. This is an apochromat design with extra emphasis on getting rid of any optical aberrations.
This lens has 11 elements in nine groups, including five low-dispersion elements. This 12-blade lens can be focused as close as 50cm (20in). The lens – also available for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras – is also of completely metal construction and is expected to sell for $1,150 (£830/€955).
The lenses are the latest among a number of Leica M-mount lens releases from Cosina.
