Harman Technology has launched a new limited-edition of its Ilford Delta 400 Professional film – and the differences go far beyond its brooding black packaging.
The film’s coating onto a clear base means the film could be developed as a black-and-white slide – which cannot currently be done with any films in the Ilford Photo line-up.
“Ilford Delta 400 Professional, our high quality, fine grain, supersharp black & white all-rounder, is the latest film to have a limited-edition.
“With its all-black cassette and carton, this stylish make-over is not the only difference. For the first time, one of our B&W 35mm films has been coated onto our clearer roll film base with its anti-halation protection.
“It offers subtle improvements to dynamic range, shadow detail, scanning, halation, and sharpness, while still retaining the same characteristics, speed, and processing times as the standard product.”
The film was announced this week and is currently available to buy from the Ilford Photo Shop in the UK. It is priced from £13.08 a roll.
The new Delta 400 Collector’s Edition follows the release of limited-edition versions of HP5 Plus and XP2 Super in time for this summer’s Football World cup, which featured photos from analogue sports photographer Miles Myerscough-Harris aka Expired Film Club.
Harman Technology has also been busy releasing a range of new colour films under its new Harman Photo brand, starting with its first colour negative film, Harman Phoenix 200, which was first released in December 2023.
