Ilford Photo is celebrating its 145th anniversary by releasing special retro-packaged editions of two of its most popular films.
The retro packaging will grace both 35mm and 120 formats of HP5 and FP4, and are based on the packaging used in the 1950s and 60s.
Harman, the makers of Ilford Photo films, said in a press release: “The retro design is based on the colours and style of HP3 and FP3 packaging – the early pre-cursors to the current FP4+ and HP5+ emulsions.”

The brand’s sales director, Giles Branthwaite, said: “Film photographers are collectors by nature and have regularly requested we introduce limited edition packaging such as this.
“This is an exciting year for us as we have recently announced a multi-million-pound investment in our R&D and operational capabilities. As we celebrate 145 years since the original IIford company was founded, we are excited to reference our legacy as we look to the future.”

The retro boxes will be available in the coming weeks.
The new Ilford packaging follows the retro packaging unveiled by Foma Bohemia on Fomapan 100, 200 and 400 films to mark the 100th anniversary of the Czech film producer.
Kodak Alaris, meanwhile, has tweaked the packaging of more its films to achieve a more uniform look.
The redesign had been rolled out amongst the consumer colour negative films such as Gold and ColorPlus, but now also includes black-and-white films such as Tri-X and professional colour films such as Ektar 100.
