LOMOgraphy may be about to re-release its LOMOChrome Turquoise XR 100-400 tinted colour film.

In the last week, the Austrian film producer has teased comments about the film – which was released in 2015 and discontinued in 2017 – with hints that it may come back into production.

The turquoise-tinted colour negative film was made in a limited run of 5,000 rolls in 2017, was originally touted by LOMOgraphy as: “A brand new film that will transform ordinary photos into magical scenes. Warm colours will be bathed in cool blue gradients – ranging from aqua to cobalt to emerald – and blues will be glowing in golden hues.

“LOMOChrome Turquoise XR 100-400 is a regular colour negative film which gives fantastic results. Colour tones transform from one colour spectrum to the next, and in turn, create wild and wonderful outcomes! Let this colourful gallery inspire you to try out our limited-edition film!” The film was available in both 35mm and 120 formats.

Like LOMOChrome Purple, this film shifts the colour palette in a certain direction – in this case blue instead of purple.

Picking up on the hints from LOMOgraphy, film photography blog EMULSIVE republished a review of the film and promoted it on Twitter, to which LOMOgraphy replied: “This might come in handy!”

Another photographer on Twitter, @linushiscamera, tweeted: “They actually made lomochrome turquoise at one point but it’s going for $450 for a pack of five on ebay rn.” LOMOgraphy’s Twitter account replied with: “Something tells us that the selling price on eBay is about to drop!”

Kosmo Foto also found that Google Search results for LOMOChrome Turquoise showed that that the LOMOgraphy Shop’s listing is now titled “2021 LOMOChrome Turquoise 35 mm ISO 100–400 Pack of 5”, though when clicked the link currently goes to an “out of stock” page.

If LOMOChrome Turquoise is indeed released, this will be LOMOgraphy’s first new colour film release since LOMOChrome Metropolis, which was funded via Kickstarter in 2019. All three films – Purple, Turquoise and Metropolis – are all believed to have been produced by InovisCoat, the German film manufacturer which recently merged with Filmotec, the company which owns the ORWO film brand.
