About six years ago, Kosmo Foto started running photowalks with Rob from London Camera Project.

In recent years, we’ve co-sponsored some of the walks as Cameraburo, offering film, cameras and all sorts of other prizes.

Now. We’ve decided to hold our first Cameraburo photowalk. And what with it being a summer without a World Cup (next year, fact fans) we’ve decided to turn it into a contest awell.

Welcome to the inaugural Cameraburo Compact Cup.

Cameraburo, our online camera shop, has been selling all manner of cameras at sensible prices over the last few years. Cameraburo isn’t for classic camera collectors with deep pockets but those wanting to shoot film with cameras that won’t break the bank.

Along the way, we’ve discovered shooting with some of the humblest 35mm compact cameras can be a lot of fun.

This July and August we’ll be holding a special two-day photowalk in London. The walk will start at 11am and run until late afternoon in London on Sunday 27 July. (More details will be announced soon.)

Your ticket will get you a cheap-and-cheerful 35mm camera from Cameraburo to shoot along the way – with a roll of colour film kindly provided by Kodak Alaris. And this camera is yours to keep!

At the end of the walk, you’ll give the film to us and it will be both developed and scanned by Aperture Printing, the fantastic central London film lab where we do our Saturday Cameraburo pop-ups. Your scans will be sent to you, and then you’ll nominate what you think is your best shot, which Aperture Printing will print out for you.

Those prints will then go into the next round of the cup.

On Saturday 9 August we’ll be holding a party in a London venue where the photographers’ pics will be pitted against each other in a popular vote until only one remains – the winner of the inaugural Cameraburo Compact Cup, with a host of awesome prizes.

Tickets are strictly limited to only 32 players, and you can book yours now via the Kosmo Foto Shop. (Please make sure you definitely can take part in the walk on 27 July before booking a ticket.)

(Just a note – we’ll need at least 24 attendees to make this event work. If we don’t get that number and have to call off the event, ticket buyers will be fully refunded.)

Attendees will be able to add themselves to a WhatsApp group closer to the day where we can all keep in touch.)
