Lomography has announced the release of the Lomo’Instant Wide Glass camera, which it claims has the sharpest lens of any instant camera in production.

The new version of the Lomo’Instant Wide features a glass 90mm lens with a close-up function which allows the camera to take shots as close as one foot (30cm).

Lomography said in a press release: “We’re thrilled to introduce the Lomo’Instant Wide Glass – the world’s best instant camera. Equipped with a 90mm multi-coated glass lens, this must-have instant camera for photography professionals delivers unmatched sharpness and unbelievable colours on Fujifilm Instax Wide film, with an impressive closest focusing distance of just 0.3 m.”

Lomography said: “Ideal for fashion and studio photography, the Lomo’Instant Wide Glass invites photographers to push the boundaries of instant photography. Its programmatic shutter and aperture control ensure precise exposures, and features like the PC-sync flash port, tripod mount, remote control lens cap, and creative shooting modes make it a versatile tool for professionals and enthusiasts alike.”

The camera is available to order now and costs £249 in the UK.

The camera appears to be Lomography’s rival to the Polaroid I-2, which was released in 2023, and which was billed as having far sharper lenses than any other instant camera.

Lomography released a number of images taken on the camera which can be seen in the gallery below (all pictures courtesy of Lomography):
