Czech film producer Foma Bohemia has announced the release of its Ortho 400 film in 35mm.
The film had previously been released in 120 format in June 2023.
Like the 120 version the film is described as having increased sensitivity to green spectrum light and can be shots at ISOs ranging from 160 to 1600.
Foma Bohemia said: “Foma Ortho 400 is a special orthochromatically sensitised black-and-white negative film. It is characterised by good resolving power and contour sharpness, fine grain and high maximum density of the silver image.
“Its high optical sensitivity enables to take photographs even in adverse light conditions and using shorter exposure times. The nominal optical sensitivity of the film is ISO 400/27°, but its wide exposure latitude provides very good results even when overexposed by 1.5 EV (ISO 160/23°) and underexposed by 2 EV (ISO 1600/33°).”

Foma Bohemia said the film can also be processed a black-and-white slide film in the developers used for Fomapan R film.
The film’s packaging resembles the special 100th anniversary boxes produced by FomaBohemia to mark their 100th anniversary in 2021, finished in a green colour scheme. The 120 version also now appears to be available in similar retro packaging.
Ortho 400 is the first new 35mm film to be released by Foma Bohemia since Retro Pan 320 ‘Soft’ in 2015, which was later discontinued in 2021.

Nice to see Ortho in both 35mm & 400 film. It can be used in a point & shoot
[…] Kosmo Foto – Foma Bohemia releases Ortho 400 35mm film Last year Foma released a brand new film, an Orthochromatic 400-Speed film in 120. And while I do have that film up for a review this year, Kosmo Foto dropped the news that they’re releasing the film in 35mm format. While it seems a little fast for an orthochromatic film, I’m looking forward to seeing what the film can do later this year. You can read more about the latest release over on kosmofoto.com. […]
