New York camera store Brooklyn Film Camera has announced a new range of specialised optics for Polaroid cameras.

The lenses have been produced for Polaroid SX-70 and 600 cameras and include a kaleidoscope prism, diamond prism and vortex prism, and can be slipped on to the front of the camera’s existing lenses with the aid of adaptors.

The lenses have been produced after two years of research and development, the company said.

Brooklyn Film Camera said on its Instagram: “After two years of careful research and experimentation, we are thrilled to finally launch this groundbreaking development for all Polaroid photographers.

“We’ve created an *entire ecosystem* of lenses for the Polaroid SX-70 and 600 camera lineups that instantly opens up a profound new world of creative possibilities never before achievable. Meet Instant Optics.”

It added: “This marks the first time that high-quality glass optics have been manufactured specifically for the Polaroid ecosystem in over 40-years. We’ve designed them with extreme care and are thrilled to be able to release them at such a fantastic price point. Our Instant Optics line will change the way you think of instant photography and we can’t wait to see how you use them! Available online and in-store now!”

The new optics sell for $29.50 (£23.40/€27.40), with the adaptors costing $44.50 (£35.25/€41.30).

The line-up also includes a wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens and a fisheye, with the fisheye lens costing $59.50 (£47.10/€55.20).

“Our prism lenses are made of optical-grade glass and are seated on articulating metal rings that allow rotation after being securely mounted, granting you precision control of the effect. A high quality photographic tool to last you a lifetime of use.”
