Pierro Pozella, the camera repairer who became a restorer on the BBC’s TV show ‘The Repair Shop’, has announced he is stopping his repair service.

Pozella, who started out repairing in London before moving to Birmingham, made the announcement this week on the PPP Cameras Instagram page and on his website.

He said: “After many years of repairing cameras for customers, I’ve decided it’s time to bring this chapter of PPP Cameras to a close.

“Although I quietly stopped accepting repairs a few months ago, I wanted to make an official announcement to avoid any confusion.

“Camera repairs have been a huge part of PPP Cameras and something I’ve dedicated over 15 years of my life to. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has trusted me with their equipment over the years.

Pozella added that this did not mean he was entirely stopping repairs after more than a decade fixing cameras.

He added: “I’ll continue using my experience to repair, service and refurbish cameras for sale through PPP Cameras, alongside developing new products, parts, accessories and continuing to grow PPP Film Lab and Camera Index.”

Pozella has sold refurbished cameras through his PPP Cameras online shop, where he has also rolled out replacement parts for various film cameras. He also runs the PPP Film Lab in Birmingham, and recently unveiled a new website called Camera Index which intends to list every film camera ever produced.

Pozella said the change to his service allows him to “focus more time and attention on the areas of the business where I feel I can offer the most value.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported my repair work over the years. I’m looking forward to continuing to share my passion for analogue photography through everything else PPP Cameras has to offer.”
