Description
Olympus AF-1 compact 1980s-era autofocus compact camera.
The AF-1 was the one of the first autofocus compacts released by Olympus in 1986.; It has a “weatherproof” clamshell design influenced by the earlier XA range and which went on to influence later cameras such as the Mju-II.
This camera is a rugged, robust design – reassuring build quality compared to smaller and cheaper designs from the 1990s.
It has a four-element 35/2.8 lens and a focus lock function which allows off-centre framing.
This camera really kickstarted a famous line of compact cameras from Olympus and prices of these are really starting to rise. It’s hard to find these in shops for less than £120 nowadays.
A manual can be found online.
This camera has been used by me to shoot several rolls, the images shown were taken in 2019 but I’ve tested this camera recently with a battery and it is all working fine.
This camera requires a CR-P2 battery which is not included.
